LANDMARC CLEANS UP ON WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY

A team of employees from Landmarc Support Services took on the task of organising and taking part in a litter pick in the area surrounding the Ministry of Defence’s Stanford Training Area in celebration of World Environment Day.

Our team from the East region out litter picking to help celebrate World Environment Day, L to R, Stephen Cross – Rural Estate Delivery Advisor, Shaun Collins – Works Manager, Richard Newman – Team Manager, Sheila Smith – Administration Supervisor, Tom Davidson – Maintenance Manager, Lee Barton – Works Manager, Ross Guyton – Maintenance Manager, Joe Stone – Area Delivery Manager, John Softley – Programme Manager, Kevin Smith – Support Manager.

Stanford Training Area covers around 9,840 hectares with a large proportion of the area designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest, making the litter pick incredibly important in the protection and conservation of the rare species that the area is home to.

The event, held on Monday 5th June, saw a team of 10 Landmarc employees take to the Norfolk based training ground armed with rubbish bags and litter pickers to clear rubbish that had accumulated around the area’s boundaries.

Alongside five bags of general rubbish, the team cleared the area of an array of other discarded items including furniture, timber off-cuts and car parts.

Kevin Smith, Landmarc’s Support Manager, said “World Environment Day was the ideal opportunity to get into nature and make sure the land was at its best to support the vast array of wildlife at Stanford.

“We know there are a number of protected species in this region, so it was important that all unwanted debris was cleared from the area. So we’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who gave their time to help out on the day!”
