Tam Noble, Foreign Forces Account Manager based at Head Office in Wiltshire, has been with Landmarc for two years having spent most of his life in the military, with 38 years’ experience in the Parachute Regiment. Here he shares his thoughts on the company’s value, ‘Take pride in what you do’. 
“Taking pride can mean different things to different people. For some, it’s that feeling of satisfaction you get when a particular task has been achieved. It’s about maintaining your standards, having a sense of pride in everything you do all the time, at work or home, and passing those examples onto others.
“For others, pride comes from the team and its ongoing commitment to high professional standards, even if the end products aren’t always perfect. Pride can be based on definitive results, such as output, efficiency, or profit. But it can also come from less measurable sources, such as the service you provide or the support that you give, such as a charity. You take most pride from the contribution you make yourself or you’re only truly happy when everyone plays their part – because you need to take pride in your organisation as a whole.
“How we take pride seems to depend heavily on our definitions of success. This starts with understanding our values, which exist, whether you recognise them or not. Life can be much easier when you acknowledge your values and when you make plans and decisions that honour them.
“Every organisation should have a clear set of values so that individuals and teams can build upon these. These set the standards that we should be upholding all of the time, not when we want and it’s a great example to others that we have high standards throughout the business.
“I love the interaction with my team and other colleagues across in the business, every day is different. The foreign forces opens up new challenges for Landmarc and the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) which I enjoy and get satisfaction from when they want to come back and use the training estate again because they are pleased with the support services that we provide.
“Take the time to understand the real priorities in your life, and you’ll be able to determine the best direction for you and your family. I made the choice of joining the Army at the age of 16 and have never looked back after a full career; making the right choices at the right time helps road map your life. Having a sense of purpose and taking pride in everything you do maintains and creates good wellbeing, and to others, you are setting a good example.”
