Crowborough Training Camp was chosen as the test site; it began life as a facility before the First World War, once up-to-date with the latest heating systems, the march of time has rendered the heating system unable to cope with the requirements of a modern day site.

The ground source heat pump system was found to reduce carbon emissions by an incredible 70% in comparison to the LPG system, so we went forward with this solution.

We wanted to set a new benchmark for innovation and research, with the goal of bringing our approach to future projects in line the Ministry of Defence energy efficiency policy. This included not only the heating but completely reinsulating of the camp buildings.
