To mark the start of Menopause Awareness Month, Landmarc has signed an official pledge to support employees going through menopause in the workplace. Head of HR (Operations) Kate Mallard explains more.
“Menopause can have a huge impact on individuals, either by directly experiencing it, or indirectly by living or working with a partner, friend or colleague who is going through it. This is why it is vital that, as an organisation, we promote knowledge and understanding across the business of what is a very important issue.
“October is recognised as Menopause Awareness Month and I am delighted to announce that Landmarc has signed the Menopause Workplace Pledge through the Wellbeing of Women organisation, a charity that saves and changes the lives of women, girls and babies and the only charity that funds all of women’s reproductive and gynaecological health.
“By signing the Pledge, we have committed to:
Recognise that the menopause can be an issue in the workplace and that people affected by menopause need support
Talk openly, positively and respectfully about the menopause
Actively support and inform employees who are affected by the menopause
“As part of Menopause Awareness Month and to emphasise our commitment to the Pledge, today marks the start of the promotion of a whole range of activities throughout the month, designed to encourage us all to start conversations and learn more about the menopause.”
Jo Potts, Finance Director adds, “Signing the Menopause Workplace Pledge demonstrates Landmarc’s commitment to opening up the conversation and breaking down the stigma around menopause, as well as investing in the resources to ensure everyone feels supported.
“Almost a quarter of our team will directly experience the menopause and 100 per cent, at some point, will know someone going through it. So, if you’re the colleague, manager, friend, partner, sister or brother of someone experiencing it, it is important that we all feel able to talk about it.”
