LANDMARC BACKS THE NEXT GENERATION FOR NATIONAL CADETS WEEK

As the UK marks its first National Cadets Week, Landmarc is extending its support for young people in the Armed Forces community by sponsoring a Cadet Cohort to take part in the X-Forces Enterprise ‘Cadets in Enterprise’ programme.

Running from 5 – 11 October, National Cadets Week celebrates the young people and adult volunteers who make cadet forces such a valuable part of communities across the UK. It is also an opportunity to recognise what cadets gain from the experience: the confidence to try new things, the ability to work with others and the chance to take on responsibility. Taking part in the Cadets in Enterprise programme enables them to build on those strengths and see how the skills they use as cadets might help them in their future careers.

WHAT IS CADETS IN ENTERPRISE?

Delivered by X-Forces Enterprise, in partnership with the Soldiering On Academy, the programme provides cadets with a practical introduction to enterprise. They explore what makes a business idea work, who its customers might be, how to plan and manage money and how to present an idea to others. It is a chance to use their teamwork and leadership skills in a different setting and to learn more about the world of work.

By sponsoring a cohort, Landmarc is helping a group of cadets access that experience and follows our decision earlier this year to extend our Guaranteed Interview Scheme to Cadets in Enterprise graduates. This means that graduates who apply for a job with Landmarc and meet the minimum requirements of the role can use this opportunity to gain interview experience and talk about the skills they developed through the programme.

Mark Neill, Managing Director, said, “National Cadets Week is a chance to recognise the commitment of cadets and the volunteers who support them. Young people develop valuable skills through the cadet movement and employers can help them see where those skills might lead. We have already opened our Guaranteed Interview Scheme to Cadets in Enterprise graduates. Sponsoring this cohort is a practical way to support more cadets as they develop their ideas, confidence and ambitions.”

Ren Kapur MBE, Founder and CEO, X-Forces Enterprise, added, “We are really grateful of the support from Landmarc for the Cadets in Enterprise programme this academic year. The development of business skills in our young people is essential for the country’s prosperity and its security as these cadets transition into impactful careers either initially in the Armed Forces or directly into business and commerce. They will so enjoy and benefit from the experience.”

This is the latest step in Landmarc’s longstanding partnership with X-Forces Enterprise and our wider support for the Armed Forces community, which also includes our sponsorship of The Armed Forces Community Awards. This year, the awards celebrated the cadets and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs) whose dedication and contribution are making a difference in our communities. Hearing their stories brought home the value of supporting young people through the cadet movement and beyond.
