Public Access

RESPECT THE RANGES

Public access to the Defence Training Estate – home to beautiful scenery, diverse environments and unique flora and fauna – is encouraged but only when it is safe to do so. As the primary purpose of the Estate is to carry out Armed Forces combat training, users must be aware of the possible risks concerned when using this land.

At Landmarc, we fully support the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) with its Training Estate Public Safety (TEPS) programme, ensuring that it remains a safe place to train for our Armed Forces as well as providing safe public access when it is appropriate to do so.

To remain safe on the Defence Training Estate, you should:

  • Follow all signs and byelaws
  • Check military training times before visiting
  • Observe the red flags and red lights on site. These indicate when live firing is taking place
  • Stay on Public Rights of Way to avoid straying into military training or damaging habitats
  • Do not touch or tamper with military debris or anything that looks unfamiliar as it may be dangerous
  • Report anything you don’t like the look of to the Landmarc TEPS or DIO team members on site

There will always be Landmarc TEPS and DIO team members on site to ensure safe public access and to maintain the Estate.

ENSURING THE TRAINING ESTATE IS A SAFE PLACE FOR ALL USERS

Our Training Estate Public Safety Team on Salisbury Plain Training Area plays an important role to ensure that the UK Training Estate is a safe place for all users.

THE IMPORTANCE OF RANGE SAFETY FOR ALL USERS

At Landmarc, we always encourage the public to use the Defence Training Estate whenever it is safe to do so, but users – from the Military and civilian shooting clubs, to farming tenants and the general public – must be aware of the possible risks concerned when using this land.

IMPROVING THE EXPERIENCE FOR COASTAL USERS

Improvements to the permissive paths and footpaths along the new England Coast Path, will improve the visitor experience and keep the public safe for many years to come.
