Landmarc has raised £34,311 for SSAFA’s transitional mentoring service, following a charity golf event and silent auction featuring special guests Jason Fox and Jordan Brooks.
Hosted at Bowood Golf Club, the event brought together Landmarc colleagues, customers, partners and suppliers for a day of golf, fundraising and networking in support of serving personnel, veterans and their families.
Alongside event partners ESS Defence, Purozo, Knights Brown, UK Connect and RW Langley, the event featured a sponsored 18-hole course, including on-course challenges such as the longest drive, wacky clubs and a putting green challenge with prizes including TP5 balls, free shots and extra points.
During the drinks reception, attendees bid for silent auction prizes, which included a Defender 90 classic Lego kit, two rugby tickets to Wales vs Australia, Yeti backpack with tumblers and other fabulous prizes generously donated by South East Motors, Vodafone, Tusker, TET, SSAFA & Bowood.
The event also welcomed special guests Jason “Foxy” Fox, former Royal Marine Commando and Special Forces Operator, best known for appearing on SAS: Who Dares Wins, and Jordan Brooks (virtually), professional golfer, long drive specialist and six-time champion across Europe.
Jason Fox said: “I was delighted to take part in Landmarc’s SSAFA golf day. Supporting the Armed Forces community is a cause that means a great deal to me and, having backed SSAFA before, I’ve seen the life-changing and even life-saving difference its support can make. Huge credit to Landmarc for bringing people together and continuing to champion this important charity.”
Jordan Brooks commented: “SSAFA’s work makes a real difference to serving personnel and veterans, and – very importantly – their families who so often aren’t the focus of attention. Kudos to Landmarc for its long-standing and continuing commitment to the Armed Forces community.”
Landmarc has partnered with SSAFA since 2019 supporting the charity through fundraising and awareness-raising activities.
Most recently, Landmarc has joined SSAFA’s mentoring service with 12 Landmarc employees training as volunteer mentors, gaining a Level 2 Peer Mentoring qualification before being matched with SSAFA beneficiaries.
Since then, Landmarc mentors have contributed 350 hours to help individuals rebuild confidence, develop civilian independence and find a clear direction for their future.
Johnathon Sandall, Director of Fundraising, Marketing and Comms at SSAFA, said: “Through sponsorship, fundraising and the generosity of all who took part, an incredible £34,311 has been raised. This is a remarkable achievement and one that will make a real difference to serving personnel, veterans and their families who rely on our support.”
Matt Hughes, Operations Director, added: “We are incredibly proud of the outcome of our golf event and the money raised to support veterans and the wider Armed Forces community. Our ongoing partnership with SSAFA reflects Landmarc’s commitment to serving personnel, veterans and their families.
“We want to extend our thanks to our event partners ESS Defence, Purozo, Knights Brown, UK Connect and RW Langley, as well as our additional hole sponsors Griffiths & Armour, Corby Graphix, GPT Waste, Listers Toyota Bristol North, AMC, Maris UK, Lister Wilder, Green Shield Group, PVM Supplies, Blighter, United Plant, Splashdown, Odin, Ladrillos Facilities LTD and Greenhouse Fleet Services and attendees for their generosity and support in helping us raise this fantastic figure.”
