LANDMARC GAINS GOLD FOR COMMITMENT TO ARMED FORCES

Landmarc Support Services has achieved a Gold award in the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, establishing the company as one of Britain’s top supporters of the Armed Forces. As one of only 50 businesses to have achieved the award this year, Landmarc, which works in partnership with the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) to manage the National Defence Training Estate, has gained the highest accolade available – demonstrating the company’s commitment to supporting the country’s serving personnel, veterans and their families.

The award underpins Landmarc’s ongoing support of the Armed Forces Covenant; a pledge made by businesses to ensure that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, are treated fairly and with respect in the communities, economy and society they serve with their lives.

Around 25 per cent of its current workforce is comprised of ex-military staff and/or their spouses, with the company benefitting from their unique skills and experience to deliver the best possible support to troops who are using the Defence Estate to train.

The company was also one of the founding corporate partners of X-Forces, the leading organisation in the UK for enterprise in the military community. Landmarc supports the organisation both financially and through mentoring and peer-to-peer learning opportunities, as well as contributing to new business start-ups.

The partnership also provides access to Landmarc100, Landmarc’s innovation scheme to provide financial support and advice to business entrepreneurs in rural communities.

In addition, the company has a formal policy designed to enable employees to meet their training commitments as reservists or army cadent training instructors, providing an additional 10 days of special paid leave.

Landmarc Managing Director, Steve Utley said, ““We are very proud to have been selected for a Gold award under the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme.  While our key remit is to provide support services to the MOD National Defence Training Estate, we recognise that delivering the right level of service is dependent on the support of many stakeholders – from the local communities that live and work on the Estate to the military that use the land for training.

“It is for this reason that we work hard to advocate support for our Armed Forces communities recognising the vital role they play and the value that they add to our organisation.  This recognition is testament to our strong military ethos and the understanding and support provided by all our staff and we are delighted to have achieved such a prestigious award.”

The Minister for Defence, People and Veterans, Tobias Ellwood added, “The breadth and diversity of this year’s winners shows how business support for the Armed Forces continues to flourish. Their commitment is a testament to the fantastic contribution our serving personnel, veterans and their families can make to any organisation.
“We all have a role to play in ensuring that the Armed Forces community is not disadvantaged by service, and each of these employers is a setting an example as meaningful advocates for those protecting the nation.”
