Tim Shapland, Business Services Director at Landmarc Support Services has been appointed for a three-year term on the Leadership Team of Business in the Community’s (BiTC) Rural Action Programme.
The Programme is led by the presidency of The Prince of Wales and encourages businesses to make a positive difference in rural communities whilst helping to sustain the countryside.Landmarc will be supporting the BiTC with two programmes: the new ‘Rural Business Connectors’ programme which places talented individuals into communities of greatest need and the established ‘Seeing is Believing’ campaign which aims to close the gap between the boardroom and the community.
Commenting on the appointment, Tim Shapland says, “the invitation to join the Leadership Team of this prestigious organization is a clear recognition of the excellent work we have already undertaken with rural communities across the country. Going forward, our particular focus will be to support the areas of enterprise, skills, natural capital management and safety.
“Bringing the Defence Training Estate together with the communities around it has a real and positive impact on the reputation of defence and the practical benefit of generating understanding and support for the military training activity that must take place; and indeed is the reason for its existence.”
Group Chairman Mark Allen, Chief Executive of Dairy Crest comments “We are delighted to welcome Tim to the Leadership Team. The Defence Training Estate is one of the largest land management businesses in the country, so Landmarc represents a very different and important perspective that we have not benefitted from in the past.”
Tim joins a number of senior business leaders representing the conservancy, retail and agricultural sectors including Anglian Water Group, McDonald’s Restaurants, National Trust, ASDA, Waitrose and HSBC Bank.
