Friends and colleagues of Landmarc Support Services (Landmarc) have scored a hole-in-one by raising over £40,000 for charity as a result of their recent golf tournament.  Held at the prestigious Gleneagles luxury golf resort and championship course in Scotland, the event, which took place on Wednesday 13th September attracted more than 50 keen golfers.

Jennifers Journey

The money raised will be donated to Jennifer’s Journey – a cause that supports Jennifer Smyth from Eglinton, near Limavady in Northern Ireland, who at 16 was a rising gymnastics star before a freak training accident left her quadriplegic in 2013.

Jennifer has made great progress and in an emotional moment at the evening’s gala dinner and charity auction, was able to walk into the venue with the help of a robotic exoskeleton from specialist company Rewalk. Landmarc is currently in discussions with Rewalk to purchase this kit from the money raised at the event, which will further aid the rehabilitation of this inspirational young woman.

Jennifer’s mother Pamela Smyth said, “I am overwhelmed at the response to the fundraising event held by Landmarc at the prestigious Gleneagles Hotel on Wednesday 13th September.

“This generous donation will make such a huge difference to Jennifer’s recovery. The exoskeleton is such a life changing piece of equipment that will enable Jennifer to stand upright, walk, turn, climb and descend stairs, bringing her even closer to her goal of walking again.”

Kevin Kneeshaw, Regional Operations Manager for Scotland and Northern Ireland at Landmarc, said: “Landmarc has an active programme to support local communities. As such, we are delighted to have raised such a huge amount of money for a cause that is very close to our heart.  We are thrilled to be able to aid Jennifer’s rehabilitation in any way that we can.

“None of this would have been possible without the support of all those who took part, donated prizes and sponsored the event. Special thanks to Briggs Equipment UK, GPT, T B Mackay Energy Services, Savills, Ransomes, Zurich, Griffiths & Armour, C&G Tarmac Surfacing Ltd, PVM Supplies, Scotland Golf Holidays, K MacRae & Son, Tusker, Alphabet, Tesla and of course, Rewalk.”

Landmarc was also able to make a significant donation to the Montrose branch of the RNLI, where an employee donates his spare time as a brave volunteer to help save lives at sea.
