LANDMARC AND DIO FLY THE FLAG ACROSS THE UK TO CELEBRATE ARMED FORCES WEEK

To mark the beginning of Armed Forces Week 2022, Landmarc Support Services (Landmarc) and the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) are showing their support and thanks to service personnel by raising the Armed Forces Day flag across the UK.

The raising of the flag is an annual event witnessed by both Armed Forces personnel and civilians across the UK. This year, which also marks the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and the 40th Anniversary of the liberation of the Falkland Islands, Landmarc and DIO want to extend an extra-special thank you to veterans and the full-time and reservist troops and their families working so hard to protect the nation by flying the official Armed Forces Day flag at military training estates across the UK.

Landmarc employees, Armed Forces personnel and staff from DIO joined together to witness the raising of the flag, where it will fly proudly until Armed Forces Week comes to a close on the 26th of June.

Last Armed Forces Day, Landmarc pledged its sponsorship of Team Emotive in its mission to complete one of the world’s most difficult ocean rowing challenges – the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge – all in the name of raising money for mental health charity, Veterans at Ease.

Made up of four Armed Forces veterans, including one Landmarc employee, Team Emotive is preparing to travel 3,000 miles from La Gomera in the Canary Islands to Antigua. Rowing two hours on, two hours off for forty days, this challenge will push the team to its limits both physically and mentally.

With just six months to go until Team Emotive sets sail on their challenge, this year Landmarc continues its support, helping the team to raise money and boost their profile at this year’s Armed Forces Day National Event in Scarborough, where the team and their boat will be exhibiting on Saturday 25th of June.

Mark Neill, Managing Director at Landmarc, comments, “Landmarc works in partnership with DIO to provide the support services that enable our Armed Forces to live, work and train on the UK Defence Training Estate. We raise the Armed Forces Day Flag each and every year on our sites across the UK, a tradition we’re very proud of. With more than 25 per cent of our team coming from an Armed Forces background,  it is important that we give thanks to our troops during this special week and we hope that many of you will be able to catch up with Team Emotive if you are visiting the Scarborough event.”

Jason Watkin, Landmarc employee and Skipper for Team Emotive, adds, “Landmarc has been fantastic throughout the preparations to date, not only through sponsorship but also in pledging help in any way it can to get us to the start line. I believe my passion for mental health support and the Veterans at Ease charity is reflected throughout Landmarc.

“It would be great to see people from all over the UK come to visit us at the Armed Forces Day event in North and South Bay, Scarborough, it will be a brilliant day out for people of all ages.”
