CLIMBING THE WELSH THREE PEAKS FOR SSAFA

On 8 July 2022 a team of 11 people, plus two support members, from Landmarc, the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) and ESS will attempt the Welsh Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for SSAFA, the Armed Forces Charity. Chris Palser, Wales and West Training Area Manager, tells us more about the challenge.

“Our team, called the Bog Womblers, is made up of nine Landmarc employees, three DIO colleagues and one ESS colleague and we are going to attempt the Welsh Three Peaks Challenge to raise awareness and hopefully some money for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity. The challenge involves climbing Snowdon, Cadir Idris and Pen y Fan in under 24 hours, covering 17 miles and ascending 7,657 feet.

“SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, is a UK-wide charity that provides lifelong support to serving men and women and veterans from the British Armed Forces and their families or dependents. SSAFA supported 79,540 individuals with their charitable services in 2020. In addition, through their commercial contracts, they continue to support the serving Armed Forces and their families in the UK and overseas.

“It is our aim to raise as much as possible to allow SSAFA to continue supporting members of the Armed Forces, both Regular and Reserves, veterans and their families, knowing they can depend on SSAFA for support now and for the rest of their lives.

“COVID-19 has resulted in a significant fall in some sources of income, notably fundraising events which have had to be cancelled. Understanding that times are challenging at the minute, if you are able to follow the Just Giving page below and donate as much as you can to this amazing charity that would be amazing, even £1 would be very much appreciated.”
