Landmarc is proud to recognise two colleagues who have become the first individuals within the business to successfully complete the prestigious British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc) Cleaning Supervisor’s Certificate qualification. The BICSc Cleaning Supervisor’s Certificate is regarded as one of the leading qualifications within the cleaning industry and is designed to provide current and aspiring supervisors with a robust and well-rounded understanding of professional cleaning management and supervision.
Stephen Sadler and Craig Godfrey enrolled on the qualification 12 months ago and have now successfully completed the course alongside their demanding day-to-day operational responsibilities.
The course consists of 10 detailed modules covering key areas including health and safety, cleaning science, cross-contamination control, cleaning standards and inspections, customer service, effective deployment of operatives, and practical supervisory skills. Candidates are required to complete a combination of presentations, assessments, quizzes, live practical assessments, and a final written assignment through an e-learning platform over a maximum period of 12 months.
Completing the qualification requires commitment, discipline and personal dedication. Both Stephen and Craig have demonstrated exceptional professionalism in balancing the demands of busy operational roles whilst remaining committed to their own professional development throughout the year long course.
Their achievement reflects not only their personal determination, but also Landmarc’s continued commitment to investing in people, raising standards and developing professional capability across Soft FM services.
By becoming the first colleagues within the business to achieve this qualification, Stephen and Craig have set an excellent example for others considering further professional development within the cleaning and facilities management sector.
Congratulations to both on this outstanding achievement.
Stephen Sadler, Facilities Manager, said, “I would say that this was a clear and informative course, that gave me effective and standardised training on the correct way to safely clean and maintain facilities. I enjoyed their emphasis on a practical approach to teaching, as this for me is the best way that I absorb information.
“The main challenge that I faced with the course was fitting all of the elements in around a busy work schedule. But I found the BICSc team to be very helpful and accommodating, allowing me to fit the assessments into my work routine successfully.”
Craig Godfrey, Team Manager, added, “The course was well structured with a variety of styles from using drawings to calculate cleaning areas to video tutorials as well as practical training via MS Teams – although being filmed was a little different but the assessors do a great job putting you at ease.
“You should be aware that there is a lot to cover which does take time and although the job I do is very busy, I did have the capacity to do a lot of the work in my own time, especially when I needed peace and quiet to write the assignment. Being able to dip in and out of the online course was really useful and I could recap or re-watch videos; this was particularly useful before I did the licence to practice exercise. The thing to remember is that you are not on your own, the BICSc Team are always contactable should you have any questions as is the Soft FM team who are only a phone call away.”
If you would like to register for this qualification please contact the Soft FM team who have a number of free courses still available. You are allocated 12 months to complete this qualification but it can be completed quicker than that.
