THE INVALUABLE KNOWLEDGE OF A VETERAN

Sheena Skidmore is a veteran who now plays a vital role at Landmarc as a Training Area and Facilities Manager. She recently led the Landmarc team that supported the military rehearsals for Operation Forth Bridge, the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral.

HAVING A CLEAR MISSION GIVES US A FOCUS

Our mission is to provide integrated support services and functional infrastructure across the UK Defence Training Estate and promote the delivery of safe, sustainable and effective military training.

PUTTING OUR VISION INTO PRACTICE

Our vision is something that military veteran and Landmarc’s range and training area expert, Martin Burke, can really relate to and every day he strives to provide the most realistic training environment possible with his team so that our Armed Forces have everything they need to train safely and sustainably. Here, he tells us what Landmarc’s vision means to him.

SPOTLIGHT ON SAMM MURRAY, OUR FIRST FEMALE NTAM

Defence is traditionally a male-dominated industry but at Landmarc we are making in-roads on building an inclusive workplace that enables women to thrive, with over a quarter of all new recruits now being female – a significant improvement on previous years. We firmly believe in equality and the diverse roles that women hold across our business are testament to that, with women featuring across all levels from director to manager to supervisor to operative and a range of specialist roles in between.

SECOND CAREER – SECOND APPRENTICESHIP

As National Apprenticeship Week draws to a close, we continue our celebration of some of our ex-military employees who are gaining new qualifications through our career pathway programme. Today, we introduce you to James Stedman, one of our Project Managers working out of Hythe Ranges in Kent who has recently enrolled in his second apprenticeship for an HNC in Construction Management. Here’s James’s story:

LOVING THE LEARNING

During National Apprenticeship Week, we’re focusing on some of our veteran employees who are adding valuable qualifications to support their military background and skills, by undertaking an apprenticeship. People just like Ben Smith; a Training Area Operative at Wyke Regis Training Area who is currently studying a two-year apprenticeship in Level 4 Facilities Management.

BUILDING THE FUTURE FOR APPRENTICES

‘Build the future’ is this year’s theme for National Apprenticeship Week, focusing on how employers train, retain and achieve with apprenticeships. Landmarc’s Talent Development Manager Carl (Louie) Lewin, tells us more.
